| Miniature PCB Pin Receptacles for .008" to .013" diameter PC Pins |
To date, this is the smallest receptacle Mill-Max has ever made. The Mill-Max #8210 receptacle is a combination of a precision machined shell and a stamped 3-finger beryllium copper spring contact. The contact accepts mating pins in the range .008" to .013" diameter, and the shell has a .012" diameter tail. The shell and contact are both gold plated for a long service life.
Since this receptacle has an outside diameter of only .026", it has application in miniature connectors with grid spacing down to and even below 0,8mm.
A common application would be to make "socket savers" for fine pitch ZIF test and burn-in sockets. Here the miniature socket assembly is soldered to the burn-in board, and the ZIF burn-in socket is plugged into it. The ZIF socket can then be easily replaced at the end of its life without having to replace the burn-in board.
It is also suitable for other miniature applications, such as the machine-patient interface of medical instruments.
